I like to thank all my customers for sticking with me for your hosting and domain registration services over the years. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas (belated) and a happy and prosperous New Year in 2024.
As with all computer-related things, our hosting server system has aged out and must be upgraded to keep up with the changing times. During these upcoming weeks, I will be moving all sites to a new Virtual Private Server. The CentOS 7 we currently run on has announced that support for version 110 will end on June 30, 2024. So we are moving to the new iteration AlmaLinux 8.
As with other moves like this that we have been forced to make over the years, there will be no interruption in service to you. The cut-over is virtually instant. Once the new system is prepared, a final backup of the old system is performed and then restored to the new system, and the domain pointers are all switched over to the new system. It all happens within an hour during non-business hours.
I suspect the user interface, Cpanel, will not look or act much differently. I have not seen it as yet, but since it's the same software just running on the newer Operating System it should look and work the same. Not like going from Windows 7 to Windows 10 at all. ;-)
The price increase will be 13% across the board. I've tried hard to keep costs down since everything started getting more expensive back in 2021. But it's finally catching up to the hosting industry. And being a small fish in this big pond, I can't be as competitive on pricing as many of the really big names are offering below-cost plans to get people to switch to them.
If your plan is $9.99 a month that will increase to $12.50 per month
The $19.99 plan will increase to $22.59
And so on.
These prices will be effective and activated over the month of January 2024. I appologize for this very short notice of the price change.
